Letter from a mom to her daughter gymnast

Dear Daughter,

I don’t know if tomorrow you will decide to lead through a different path, but for now I want to tell you that I will be by your side through whatever hoops you jump through, as well as in every competition you compete in. I will support you with all my strength, I will laugh and surely cry when I see what you do is perfect, when you receive your medals and trophies, my soul will be full of happiness for what you’ve achieved.

Surely I will correct you but only when necessary, I will push you to be your best, to be aware of all the efforts and sacrifices needed to achieve your goals, and to be sure of what you want, and to know that all your dedication and discipline will be worth every second.

I want to be your teacher and your mother, the person that’s there for you at any moment, and to be your friend that guides you in every step of your life.

I am so proud of your discipline, your efforts, for your character, the way you face your battles and always think of them as a positive thing and use it as a lesson for next time.

Every day I will strive to give you my best, I will accompany you, I will hold your hand at every big moment, I will feed and nurture you not only with food, I will teach you the values that’ll give you security, make you believe in yourself and show you all that you could do.

Daughter, one day you will notice that it wasn’t the medals, trophies or titles that you’ll take home. You’ll realize the important stuff, that nothing worth having comes easy, and you will have many ups and many downs.

Lastly my dear, never give up on your dreams, sometimes it’s the only way to truly be happy. From here on out you have the right tools to be happy in this life, even though it means struggling, crying, and exhaustion, it also means happiness, success, and responsibility.
