    July 07, 2021 3 min read

Join us in getting fired up and inspired by the jaw dropping-talent displayed by the incredible athletes from the top gymnastics competitions of 2021.

Watching competitions is a great way to share your passion, get motivated, and support your fellow gymnasts. Participating in a gymnastics competition is the perfect way to take things to the next level — you can put your skills to the test and show the public what you’re made of. (Read to the end to discover your chance to compete in 2022!)

This is an amazing year for gymnastics competitions. Check out four of the top gymnastics competitions of 2021 to get inspired by the boldness and athleticism of some extraordinary gymnasts.

    Nastia Liukin Cup

2021 was kicked off by the annual gymnastics competition hosted by Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin. Since 2010 the Nastia Liukin Cup has been an event for pre-elite gymnasts to perform on the national stage. The event features a total of 36 junior- and senior-level USA Gymnastics Women’s Development Program Level 10 gymnasts. The gymnasts qualified for the competition with performances at twelve invitational gymnastics meets in the first two months of 2021.

At this year’s Nastia Liukin Cup, Leah Smith of World Champions Centre took home the senior title at the event in Indianapolis. Smith’s USA gymnastics bio highlights her grit with her words: “I love that gymnastics has taught me to be dedicated, hardworking, disciplined and a fierce competitor!”
      We’re here for it, Leah!

      2021 American Classic

After being postponed for a year as we all focused on staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Classic was finally able to take place in 2021 from April 23rd to 25th in Indiana. The American Classic is a highly important gymnastics competition. In fact, it’s one of two qualifiers to the National Championships.

We were blown away by runner up for the 2021 American Classic senior all-around title — fifteen-year old elite gymnast Leanne Wong of Great American Gymnastics Express. This year, Wong took the top spot on vault with a 14.400.

        2021 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships

On the other side of the globe, one of the world championships for competitive gymnastics was hosted in Geneva, Switzerland. The Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, formerly known as the World Sports Acrobatics Championships, spans six events that include different disciplines of gymnastics, including tumbling, trampoline, rhythmic gymnastics, parkour, artistic gymnastics, aerobic gymnastics and acrobatic gymnastics.

At the 2021 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championship, two U.S. acrobatic gymnasts, Aubrey Rosilier and Emily Davis, claimed the silver medal in the women's pair with a 28.580. Overall, the U.S. finished sixth in the team competition with a total of 42 points.

U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Gymnastics

The long-awaited U.S. Olympic Team trials was an astonishing event that led to the most diverse women’s team that has ever represented the U.S. at an Olympics! The four women who earned places competing in the team event for Team USA are Simone Biles, Grace McCallum, Jordan Chiles, and Sunisa Lee. Gymnasts Jade Carey and MyKayla Skinner will also be in Tokyo, competing in the individual apparatus events.

This structure of having two specialists and a four-member team is something new instated by the International Gymnastics Federation. The two individual spots were added so that smaller countries who didn’t have enough athletes to form an entire team would still be able to participate.

We’ll be here cheering on the team of dynamic, disciplined and passionate women on Team USA as they prepare to take on the Tokyo Olympics!

The gymnastics competition you won’t want to miss in 2022

At Bold&Grit, we’re all about encouraging awesome gymnasts from the moment they enter the gym to practice until the moment they stick that final landing.

That’s why we’re powering the Miami Grit Classic in 2022!

We’re thrilled to offer an opportunity for young gymnasts to show off their skills and compete. Plus, you’ll be sure to make new friends, get free gifts and have a boatload of fun exploring Miami Springs, Florida.

Our 2022 gymnastics competition will include a free Bold&Grit event leotard as a gift for participating athletes, well-organized meets, and $5,000 in prize giveaways for participating clubs and coaches.

Keep twisting, tucking, tumbling. We can’t wait to see you shine!
